Horoscopes - Scorpio 0

In this eighth of a 12 part series on horoscopes, we’re going to look at the second of what are called the fall signs, Scorpio the Scorpion.

People who are born between October 23 and November 22 are Scorpios. Their element is Water, their quality is Fixed, their energy is Yin, their rulers are Pluto and Mars, their colors are burgundy and black, their gem is Topaz, their main anatomical parts are the genitals, urinary and reproductive systems, their keywords are desire, transformation and desire, their Tarot suit is Cups and their Tarot Major Arcana card is Death.

Some famous celebrities who are Scorpios are Calista Flockhart, Jodie Foster, Leonardo DiCaprio, Bill Gates, Georgia O’Keeffe, Dan Rather, Winona Ryder and Hilary Clinton.

If you don’t know what a scorpion is, it’s a very dangerous creature that has a stinger that is poisonous and can kill you. Well, welcome to what you can expect from a Scorpio. This is without a doubt the most dangerous sign in the zodiac to get angry. If they like you, they really like you and will go to the ends of the Earth to make you happy. But get on their wrong side and they can turn on you as fast as Jose Reyes on the base paths. The verbal tirade that can come out of a Scorpio’s mouth can make a truck driver blush. Once they go off, you don’t want to be anywhere in the area.

Not all of Scorpio is fire and brimstone. Scorpios are very intense people. That intensity comes out in many forms, some of it very good. When they put their mind into doing something, they do it all the way or not at all. There is no such thing as moderation with a Scorpio. If they are into their careers then they live and breathe work every waking moment. If they are into hobbies, those hobbies become obsessions to the point of neglecting all else. Don’t even try to distract them when they are doing something. They won’t even know you’re in the room.

A Scorpio in love is in love and in lust. Sex is the most important thing to a Scorpio. Without it they would literally die. They will do anything and everything to please their mate and they expect the same in return. You better have a lot of energy to keep up with a Scorpio because they can go all day and all night with very little trouble at all. Their thirst for physical pleasure is almost unquenchable. And while a Scorpio can see right through you, they will rarely reveal their deepest emotions to you.

Scorpios, as far as work goes, tend to get a little restless. They have a constant need for change, which is why a Scorpio will have many jobs during their life. If they can find a career that requires doing something different everyday or new challenges on a regular basis, they can be content in one place. But this is rare for the Scorpio.

Scorpios are very intense and have long memories when wronged. But they can be the most loyal friend that you’ll want to have.

What I Know About String Theory 0

You all saw Jodie, Jodi, Jody Foster in Contact.

Oh, you missed it?

Lucky you?

Oh, you liked it!

Anyway, Jodie, Jodi, Jody doesn’t always take good roles.

Either that or she doesn’t always get good directors. (What, he directed Forest Gump!)

Either that or when I watch a technical movie the inaccuracies make me want to barf.

When Jodie, Jodi, Jody gets a good role and director, wow!

I like Jodie, Jodi, Jody when she lets her hair down like in Maverick. She was Mrs. Annabelle Bransford.

I loved that gal!

But this is not a gossip column. We are into serious science here.

Now, you did see Jurassic Park at least forty times, right?

Remember the dark haired guy that spoke of String Theory?

That was Dr. Ian Malcolm whom was played by Jeffrey Lynn Goldblum.

Jeff was born in Pittsburgh in 1952. He probably saw Roberto Clemente play for the Pirates. Clemente died tragically in 1972 when Jodie, Jodi, Jody Foster was about 10 years old. (Jodie, Jodi, Jody was born in Los Angeles in late 1962.) When we lived in Pittsburgh we loved to watch those Pirates. Roberto could throw a man out at home from the right field fence!

Well, Jodie, Jodi, Jody didn’t just talk String Theory, in her movie. She got zapped off to another planet!

If that is not true, let’s make it our hypothesis. It won’t change the direction of this article much.

As soon as I know what the direction of this article is, I’ll let you know.

When I was a kid, we all knew the value of string. We collected it and hid it from our siblings. It was required for kite flying and for making play telephones from tin cans. What we knew about “string theory” was that if you ran out of string, you would lose your kite, have to run a mile to find it, and then have to throw rocks at the thing to get it to come down from the tree. If you broke a window, you had to run.

Also, for tin can telephones, the string must be held very tightly or no communications were possible. We had the basics figured out back then. Now string theorist use different shape strings but still require that they be tight.

I’m sure Albert Einstein would be against string theory. He always kept his violin strings very straight and tight as do my grandchildren. If violin strings were normally curving about and tight, he would have invented the theory.

I think it is about time to get to the meat of this article, so please stop distracting me.

To learn about string theory we must go to their official web site: http://www.superstringtheory.com/index.html.

I quote:

“Think of a guitar string that has been tuned by stretching the string under tension across the guitar. Depending on how the string is plucked and how much tension is in the string, different musical notes will be created by the string. These musical notes could be said to be excitation modes of that guitar string under tension.

“In a similar manner, in string theory, the elementary particles we observe in particle accelerators could be thought of as the “musical notes” or excitation modes of elementary strings.

“In string theory, as in guitar playing, the string must be stretched under tension in order to become excited. However, the strings in string theory are floating in spacetime, they aren’t tied down to a guitar. Nonetheless, they have tension.”

There are two kinds of strings described on the site. The first are those in closed loops that can break open and those that are closed and can’t brake open.

Well, I guess that about covers string theory.

Robot Chicken - Rude and Irreverent 0

Those in the know, know Seth Green - former child actor turned thespian extraordinaire. Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged me; Goldmember; Weird Science; Batman Beyond: The Movie; The Italian Job; are just a few of his movie credits that begin when he was ten years old with a staring role as ‘Egg’ Berry in The Hotel New Hampshire. Jodie Foster’s Production Company Egg Pictures is named after his character.

Television has been the mainstay of a career that combines actor, writer, director and producer to his professional credits. Mad TV; Buffy The Vampire Slayer, Will & Grace; Sesame Street; That 70’s Show; The Drew Carey Show; are a few from an enormous list of roles that prove this guy is in demand. Always has been.

Green is the man responsible for one of the most overused catchphrases in the lexicon of 90’s slanguage. He appeared in a Rally’s Burger commercial as the objectionable drive-through cashier who’s repetitious line “Cha-Ching” became a part of pop culture.

He’s picked up a lot along the way in his many and varied roles and offers it up in his new creation, ‘Robot Chicken’, a twelve minute show that is cutting edge satire, skewering all things sacred in movies, television, music and, in particular, celebrities.

A host of celebrities themselves join the show and the fun - lending their voices to on-going characters who diss themselves in the spastic comedy vignettes that move along so fast you are laughing at the last one while the new one pops into view.

The stop-motion animation combined with the frenetic pacing of action figures - some of whom represent the best-loved icons of really bad television - blend together in a miasma of extreme satirical silliness that is at once hypnotic and hilarious. You can’t not watch it!

If there is anything to object about in this irreverent and impertinent comedy show, it could only be that 12 minutes is not enough for most of those who are addicted.

For sheer and simple entertainment - it doesn’t get much better.

Catch it on the Cartoon Network. Check your local listings.
